hi craig > Major != stable > > Major = large number of changes/improvements to features and lots of bug > fixes etc >
you are talking to a world of people who speak only broken english... i guess we should avoid any possible source of misunderstanding! and, well, if i want to be nitpicking, major relaeses are 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 minor releases are 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and patch levels are 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.5 (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versionsnummer) as scribus doesn't want to go for 2.0, i'm happy with 1.4 as a major release, but certainly i would never label as such a 1.3.5 developement release. so i'd like you to use terms like development and production versions or stable and unstable. officially calling 1.3.5 a major release (with a beta version and two release candidates!) will lead to 1.3.5 being seen as the current stable release! right now people on this list and on irc are suggesting to newbies to install and use 1.3.5. i think i will stop contradicting them, if the announces are not made a bit more clear... i'm not don quichotte! oufh... that was a long mail... ciao a.l.e
