As as Scribus user, I also am concerned about this QT problem. I suggest that Ubuntu Scribus users put heavy pressure on Ubuntu to make greater effort of solving these QT issues, as it is known fact that Ubuntu "officially" gives support to GTK+ as significantly higher preference than goes to QT.
Whether Ubuntu "organization" favores Gnome over KDE desktops - the */"real" issue" behind this library problems/*, should not impact Kubuntu, Scribus or any other software that is based on QT. W.
