We seem to have several solutions to this problem, so one more wont go astray. http://members.pcug.org.au/~rcook/Scribus/shadow.html Scribus-1.5.0 will require GraphicsMagick so looks like it maybe possible to script something like that with the PIL to do this in Scribus.
