I'm not that interested in OS discussions, but...

For me the 1.3.3.12 version still does everything I want. I'm interested in
producing content and not chasing performance.

It is a recognised psychological point that people do not value anything that
comes too easily, or for which they have not paid a high price.
Free software must fall into this category - people browsing through the
internet must think "it can't be any good or I'd have to pay for it".

But it is good.

Every now and then it is important to say thank you, and show your appreciation
to people who have helped you. I am very, very grateful to the free software
community in general, and to a number of specific software developers in
particular.

With the powerful combination of Inkscape, GIMP, and Scribus I have started a
business in a slower and more thoughtful way than would be posible if I had to
recover the startup costs of the software. The business may come to nothing,
but free software has allowed me to access pro functionality without risking
lots of money that I don't have. In addition, Audacity allows me to digitally
record multitrack audio (for nothing) to make my own play-along CDs to help my
recoder students play consort music.

We live in fantastic times, but how do I show my appreciation? I am not a
software developer, and I know very little about computers.

However, I am very interested in producing *content*. I know it doesn't come
into the realm of Scribus, but the way I give something back to the free
software community is to use the software to produce free content: I read free
audiobooks for Librivox.

So, a big thank-you to the Scribus developers. Every now and then it is
important to just say ... thank you.
