well, os x 10.4 is not really problematic... the fact is, that there was a technology change with 10.5 and many applications don't support 10.4 any more. scribus is not one of them and 1.3.8 works perfectly on os x 10.4. the only problem is that the .dmg distributed by the team can't be used on 10.4. the workaround is to use the binaries (or sources) distributed by fink. those work flawlessly!
