never experienced such an error... - please install 1.3.8... it's the latest version... - can you try to press the ESC key to close the dialog? i just tried to open and close the "character palette" on os x and i didn't find any problem in closing it with the red button, nor with the ESC key... let's see if an update and the ESC solves the problem for you... ciao a.l.e
