I am wondering if it would not be better to throw the alert about missing ghostscript during the installation, or even before installing, instead of when launching.
Like "The installer is not able to locate Ghostscript. Scribus needs Ghostscript for the following features: ...... If you want to use them you should install Ghostscrip before installing Scribus. Abort. Install without Ghostscript." In the case someone really wants to use Scribus without Ghostscript I think it becomes frustrating to get the alert each time they start Scribus. (Or does the alert only come the first time Scribus runs after installation?) Then of course an alert could also pop up when someone tries to use the features needing Ghostscript, to tell them that "To be able to use xxxx you need to have Ghostscript installed so Scribus can find it". With a link to the manual where the user can see how to point Scribus to the location of Ghostscript if it is installed but not found. /Peter
