I want to be able to look at the fill color for my book cover (the background) cover and determine programmatically what the text color should be. I usually use dark colors (maroon, navy, etc.) with white text (just a matter of house style) but at a certain point a color becomes "too light" for the text to be white. How can I decide that programmatically and automatically revert to black? Also, is there more to the color issue than that? how can I determine programmatically when colors other than black and white might work well for text?
