By default Scribus will rasterize a placed PDF. That may give a bad quality, depending on the PDF and the printing method. That's why the warning is there. Newer versions of Scribus can export a placed PDF as "a PDF in a PDF" so it will remain "vector" format, but I think that in the 1.3.x series that feature is considered experimental and does not work well with color management. /Peter
