-- Ghostscript is needed to import or export ps or eps files. It should be installed BEFORE Scribus is installed. There are times when importing an eps file, or saving a ps file, is useful. For example although Scribus has a built-in barcode mechanism it is more convenient in many case to just use the bookland facility to get a single eps file with both barcodes and the ocrb text included and properly arranged. The most convenient way to use an LSI cover template is to import it as an eps file. I don't like to use the LSI template but it is apparently mandatory for books with color interiors. In addition to Ghostscript a well-endowed Scribus computer will also have Gimp and TeX installed, since Scribus can make use of both. Fortunately Linux usually comes with both. It might help to know what OS the original poster is using. I assume MSWin.
