Peter, I have a simple solution for all pictures and graphics. First I import them into Inkscap and export them as vector files. That makes it easier to size an retain quality and instructs Scribus to export them at 300dpi. Thy work well in Scribus 1.4 final. The program then converts them into CMYK.
