Hi Thom

By using the old operating system you are exposing your data to whatever 
vulnerabilities it has (unless you never share data and don't connect to the 
Internet), the older it is, the less support it has. Apple offers free 
upgrades, so why not upgrade? Information security is incredibly important and 
it has to be a critical consideration for us. 

Technically, we need to continue to use newer supporting libraries to add 
functionality. Eg without moving to Qt 5.4, we cannot even consider high DPI 
support which is more and more required with new hardware. Qt is a toolkit for 
developing applications that Scribus is based on.

Also, it is not possible to compare the resources of Adobe to us. We have 2-3 
primary people developing Scribus, all on a part time best effort basis and 
many contributors. We do not have the ability to continue to develop for every 
platform version. However I do think that 4-5 of the past versions is quite a 
lot.
