last time i've had a look at laidout, it did not support languages... but the latest news on the laidout website says that tom is debugging the text tool... so, it might be usable now! : - ) but you know, it's laidout! before going for the serious long term goals: "The loooong term goal for adequacy is TeX like line breaking in arbitrarily shaped areas, capable of right to left, left to right and vertical text, as well as OpenType features." http://www.laidout.org/screenshots/img-text-tool-start-0.095.1.html it had to support multi color fonts! http://www.laidout.org/screenshots/img-colorfonts-0.095.1-m.html if you want to contribute to laidout's code i'm pretty sure that tom will be delighted to welcome you! on the other side you will be part of one of the coolest and most amazing programs you have ever seen! :-) ciao a.l.e
