Hi Aaron: I am not up to date on UIA anymore.
In the past the marshalling of all the objects and variables incurred the
overhead as well as marshalling of any events.
I recently read an article from the folks who prepared the
InteractiveBrokers API that using COM can result in occasional lost events
which didn't seem a good thing when dealing with an API related to
interacting with the brokerage during stock market transaction processing
against the major exchanges. But, I didnt find that was a problem, unless I
just missed it, when mucking with the com interface windowEyes used back in
the day so cant speak to their notice about this situation.
The scriptor guys are off on a good tack though and if they can get all the
technicals under control I think using the WindowEyes DOM and the UIA
capabilities are one powerful tool for scripting complex accessibility
issues.
Another thought would be about the possibility of scripting Webpages or
sites using the dom of an internally generated Windows Browser control -
allot of work indeed but has some pretty extensive potential me thinks if
they want to go that rout and the technicals allow this type of feature to
be implemented in a reasonable fashon.

Later and have a good week Aaron.

Rumor is that native access to UIA is somewhat more performant over the
built-in support. I cannot substantiate that claim.
