Yep, they use their own markup, or is it markdown? Language. And if you look at the things that it doesn't allow, it seems to not allow for a lot of standard html objects. Yeah, the desktop client looks pretty hopeless, although I did notice that the virtual view with OCR can detect the note content. But it's very frustrating because the apple evernote app is pretty good, and yes, it would be a big job.

I did install the EverNote Windows program. I've done some looking with the app which detects what events WE knows about; and I've had a look at their COM object model. First, WE isn't detecting anything (other than be basic fact that a key was pressed) as you tab around their client; this may be due to WE switching over to the use of UIA instead of MSAA (along with the rest of the world), but WE never added any UIA equivalent events (or screen reading functionality) to their object model; or perhaps it's for some other reason, but other than the menus, WE just doesn't seem to be giving us anything to work with. Their API seems to be designed to allow you to write your own client for accessing their notes; for instance, if you had a database program you'd written yourself, they give you the ability to add notes which could come from this database program. They don't however seem to give you any way to see what their standard client is doing at the moment. This API for COM access is still under development. It looks to me like you couldn't easily make their client accessible using WE, but with enough work you could write your own entire replacement for their client (perhaps, I don't know that they give you all capabilities in their API). I'd be interested in anything Rod has to say on this, as perhaps he's seen something I haven't as an approach, but for the moment, it looks to me like this would be a very big job, as they don't store their notes in plain text, but in some unusual form of XML. . If I can, I'll try working with their client and some sighted help to see if that tells me anything else, but I have to say, I don't hold out much hope for Evernote and WE. They also have a windows program which has accessible menus, but the way the notes are rendered is not accessible. It's free unless you want a premium account with more storage. They have an API as well that Rod took a look at, I read the beginning of the documentation and was pretty clueless. Is this something which is browser based, or do you install a Windows program? How much does it cost? I'm still wondering if someone here could possibly help me design some accessible way to work with evernote's desktop interface. I've done a lot of poking around but I don't know how to write in vbs, and frankly right now I don't have the time, I'm getting certified as a life coach from the Coaches Training Institute. But I see so much potential in evernote, I feel like its a, so close but so far away, situation. I also don't know what events to look for and block when I use the we-event script. If I knew what elements to look for while the script was running, I could maybe learn more about how to interact with the interface. So, if anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. I do have an API key, as well. I just have no idea what to do with it.
