Hmmm.  I can sympathize with not wanting to rewrite.  However, unless I
missunderstand you, I don't agree with limiting the number of modules that
do the same thing.  To me, that implies that there's only one way to do
it, which somehow just doesn't ring true. :-)

If I have a choice between a module that's 70 lines long that does just
what I need, and one that is 500 lines long that does a bunch of great
stuff but is overkill for my needs, I'd appreciate having the choice.

In summary, I agree that Scott did a great job, but I'd hate to see his
ideas languish just because he's left the scene.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing.  You'll notice also that I'm not
exactly volunteering either :-)
