This is all wrong, it should read
#define output_bit(...) output_bit3(__VA_ARGS__)
and be used via
output_bit(PIN_E3, 1);
or
output_bit(E, 3, 1);
Similar updates to the other macros (output_float, input_from_pin, ...) also do
the trick.
I will update the compat.h and mail it to you (as attachments to this list
might be stripped) when I have finished it.
