The Credits can be extracted from the Changelog file. The copyright notices were standardized upon the request of the people who run savanna.gnu.org which I was at one point applying for a repository. They were changed to meet the requirements of both the LGPL and legal requirements.
Please do not modify any notification about the licenseing which must be in every file. Please feel free to create the CREDITS file and add the attibuation line to each of the files.
