This seems to be the plan we will take. However sdl builders will need
help getting everything in the right place. Hopefully I can provide
this with alien:;sdl.
Another question pops up is how does DBI compile packages through
cpan? Is it something worth emulating? Is dbi building smooth on
windows?

It may cause some issues for ActivePerl, but if they choose they have
the ability to completely customise their own package, and they are
(to my knowledge) compatible with binary packages built for Strawberry
Perl.
