hey everyone,
i wanted to address the smoking/bible thing, but since many may be tired of it,
i'm just gonna put it at the bottom of this email. my on topic question: has
jeremy said what his plans are for solo stuff (is he putting it off indefinitely
or what?) sorry if this has been talked about before, just email me privately if
it has.
thanks!

now, about the smoking stuff. it's a pretty fuzzy issue since it isn't directly
addressed in the bible. but, there are some things i do know. first, the whole
point of christianity (or one of the main points) is that there _is_ an absolute
moral law. whether things are ok or not is not determined by one's own opinions,
or the actions of others. if my pastor was a drunk and cursed and whatever, i
can't look at him and be like "gee, he's a pastor, and he does those things, so
they must be ok." that just doesn't hold water. (see cs lewis' "mere
christianity" for an explanation of relativism & chrisitanity) also, the passage
about one's body being a temple is used in conjunction with a passage about
another particular kind of behavior. but, the concept doesn't cease to be correct
or relevant when we talk about our behavior in general. the christian's body is a
temple of the holy spirit, period. christians can use that concept (in addition
to other parts of scripture as they apply) to determine whether our behavior is
good or detrimental. even in foggy areas not specifically addressed in the
bible. thanks for listening, and please email/flame me PRIVATELY if you want, so
people don't get mad
