ok, ive been replying to everyone privately about this subject, because i assumed that most vegans/veggies were well informed, believe me, when i first went veggie, i had enough people telling me what was in what, and what i couldnt eat... so heres the deal (to back up my previous statements)... alcohol. most commercial (this means NOT homebrewed) wines and hard liquors contain animals. this means that most are processed using gelitain, or even blood, and (now brought to my attention), are decolorized using bone-char filters (as sugar is)...these facts make commercial (mass produced and not you grandpa's ) alcohols NON-vegan/veggie. beer...the head (fizz) is animal, pure and simple. its a slaughter house by-product containing protien. beer is not carbonated, so if you want it fizzy, you gotta put animals in it...beer is NOT vegan. (ok, homebrews may be...this is questionable, you can get rennet from veggies, and i have seen "natuarl beer" which claims to be vegearian) cigarettes...aside from being excessively tested on animals, cigrettes contain glycerine, among other random bad things from animals. but although glycerin can be gotten from cruelty-free sources, it is really expensive and cigarette companies (at 2 cents a pack) dont go for the expensive stuff. thats it...sorry for taking up your space, but i was sick of answering all of the emails privately, i gotta go to bed....nitey nite. mikie! >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (jamie elizabeth ramsay) >To: "Mikie Lewinski" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: Re: [sdre-l]: vegan >Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 01:00:59 -0500 (CDT) > > but jeremy smokes (cigs have animals in them) and will and joe definately >drink (alcohol has animals too)...so that cancels everyone out huh? >> >>mikie!
