Ok. They guys in Sunny Day have gone on the record as saying that nate
wanted to get back together with them, but he never found the time because
he was tied up with the Foos, and the other three couldnt wait any longer.
This is the official line from the band is that this is because Nate didnt
want to bail on his other commitment, but Pat Smear (who was the only thing
that made that band tolerable for me, even if he didnt play on the first
album) left, he gave very little notice, and the band understood he needed
to leave. Why wouldnt Nate get the same treatment? Dave Grohl never shows
any deep connection with nate the way he does with other bandmates ("Taylor
Taylor TAYLOR! I just love that Taylor so much!", he used to play with
drums for his guitarists old band) and Nate never gets to say anything in
interviews, etc. So I dont buy it. I think that for whatever reason, Nate
couldn't decide on which band to play with (a sure think that is not as
interesting but tolerable and has a regular paycheck and is popular
{although nate is last in the band to be highlighted) vs.. playing in the
old, incredible band with people who have clashed in the past and broken up
once) , so he tried to do both but SDRE couldnt wait any longer. Too bad.
But SDRE marches on, and we, the fans of SDRE, shouldnt dwell on it or hold
anymore animosity to anybody, but focus on what is going on RIGHT NOW! I am
going to an SDRE show on Monday with the current incarnation SDRE. I am
saddened I never saw Nate, but the band plays on. Halelueah
Joshy
p.s. I dont know the way it is where youre standing (Jr. High?) , but not
all indie bands worry about new shoes, and those that do should be avoided
like the plague
