I for one would be totally stoked if Jeremy or Will came out and filled my gas
tank. Probably BP, not Texaco.
Act I, Scene I
[my van pulls up at BP, May 4th, Friday night.]
Jeremy: What can I get fer ya?
Me: Umm... fill it with premium.
Jeremy: Yessir, pump Seven.
[Jeremy proceeds to remove the gas cap and begins filling my thirsty van. I live
in Oregon, see, so we can't pump our own gas. While the van is filling, he
proceeds to clean my windshield. He scrubs In Circles, ha ha, whistling the
whole time. I come back to the filling station from the mini-mart where I bought
a 47 or 48oz soda, or pop depending on where you're at, from Dan at the counter.
Walking toward my van, I notice Will sitting at the side of the building, having
a smoke.
Jeremy tops off my gas tank, and replaces the gas cap.]
Jeremy: There you go, have a nice night.
Me: Thanks, you too. Um, haven't I seen you before?
Jeremy: [smiling] ah, probably back when Days Were Golden, I imagine.
Me: Um, yeah, I guess.
[I get back in my van, and drive off. While I'm driving, I think to myself, very
nice station, nice guys, but maybe next time I'll try the station down the road.
It's run by some guy named Dave, and he runs a really tight ship. Sure, he can
be controlling, but it's his gas station. I take out my already-worn Adore
cassette and pop in my Dark Side of the Moon tape, and sing myself down the
road.]

THE END.

In the same way I wish this to make people laugh, I wish for it to make people
angry. Moreover, I want this to make people think and reflect. Yes, SDRE is an
amazing band, but that's just it. They're a band. In 5 years, it's very likely
they'll be doing something else. Maybe something with music, maybe pumping gas.
Who knows? I for one hope to hear more amazing music come from them, but I don't
feel it's my place to dictate what I hear. Well, I'm rambling, and could go on
for days.
