All of this talk about Nate (and the band with their whole label
signing deal) selling out and making money seems to involve
something that is none of our business: Nate's personal life. We
have no idea what sort of a financial situation he is in and what he
could need or want, and this is because it is not something for us to
judge. Unfavorable sellout behavior is usually characterized by an
individual who already obviously has loads of money, (not to
stereotype, but say a professional athlete who accepts offers in the
millions)and is going to whatever team gives him/her the most money,
rather than playing the sport simply for the love of the game.
Needless to say, I don't believe Nate is getting offers for millions
of dollars from the foo fighters, and clearly he expressed regret in
not being able to join up with SDRE again. Ultimately, however, IT IS
NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Like I said, we don't know what kind of money
he might need (I don't want to see him working at Texaco either), and
furthermore it's his right to pursue his art however he pleases. What
he does as a musician is really up to him, and we should respect that
in this situation. If he starts behaving like Grohl (I think you know
what I mean-I don't feel like getting off on that tangent right now)
then I would see reason to question his principles as an artist. But
I highly doubt anybody needs to worry about something like that, so
relax.
