Hi all -
I'm new to this list and figured I'd introduce myself. My name's Kanishka
and I'm currently a junior at the University of Maryland (DC baby!). I've
been listening to sdre for quite a long time - in fact, I bought "Diary"
because of the cover back in '93 or '94. Its funny that an album I bought
simply because I thought the cover was cool has grown into a full fledged
love affair with the band. I have never seen the band, probably because of
the brief hiatus I took from "guitar based" music for about a year, but I
am hoping that they decide to tour the East Coast again - or perhaps
England, where I'll be for all of 99-00.
Other than SDRE, I'm just now getting back to my old school indie roots.
my favorite acts right now (other than SDRE) are Built to Spill, Modest
Mouse (so I have a thing for the northwest, sue me), Mogwai, Radiohead, and
Pulp. I was also at one point in time a huge raver, so I'm into synth-based
acts like Underworld (whose concert at the 930 a couple of weeks ago
rocked), Talvin Singh, and a host of others. Basically, music is my
lifeblood and everything else is just details.
I hope this crap didn't bore any of you - I'm sitting in my dorm room
listening to my roommate snore and there isn't much else to do. If any
SDRE fans in the Baltimore/Washington area want to get together and see
some shows or something, I'm totally game.
