i guess you can read this if you're interested, sorry if this was an annoyance... love you a!! werd. -danny (from the braid webpage) 5.31.99 After almost six long years of touring, recording and playing music together, Braid has decided to call it quits this august. It has been the greatest experience of all of our lives, but all of the work involved has taken a bit too much of a toll on our creative output and most importantly, on our friendship. So rather than sacrifice our care and respect for each other, we decided to put an end to exactly what was pulling us apart. This also clears the way for us to start anew and pursue other musical and educational interests. We thank everyone that has helped us along the way, let us sleep on their floors, talked to us, or set up one of the 530+ shows that we played... If it's a bit upsetting, we're sorry, but we all feel that this is the only option that we could choose. We will all still be playing music, so be warned that you haven't seen the last of each of us. We will be playing 4, maybe 5 more shows, assuming all is still keen with the summerfest in milwaukee. There will be four final shows in the 3 hometowns that Braid has accumulated: milwaukee, 2 in chicago, and urbana. As soon as dates and ticket information are confirmed, i'll post them up here. it would be great if you could be there. We will be releasing the last 3 braid songs on a 7" single to be released August 10th on Polyvinyl. The songs are "please drive faster", "circus of the stars", and "you're lucky to be alive". The Movie Music double CD, compiling everything we've recorded except for the 3 albums... will finally be released in January on Polyvinyl. phew. I will still be updating this website regularly - to keep you informed of the going-ons of the group, as well as a hawaii/japan photo album, and also - some big extravagant thank you pages. I met John Cusack the other day. What a nice fellow. Thanks to the nice fellow who decided to post all of this stuff on webboards this weekend. you never can tell who are your real friends these days. anyway, it doesn't matter now, and i hope you enjoyed that extra, well-deserved attention for the past 72 hours. Thank you and goodbye. Todd, Chris, Bob, and Damon. We'll truly miss you.
