Hey everyone,
In regards to Shaun's question, I agree that music has the ability to heal
and soothe, as much as that is possible through music. I went to SDRE show in
DC 9/30/99. I felt some sort of indescribable feeling that night. The closest
words that come to describe how I felt at that show were:

"No matter what happens in my life, the pain, the sorrow, the happiness, the
betrayal, everything is, and always will be ok as long as I have this music
to carry me through."

I was going through some pretty serious personal crisis at the time (I didnt
know it yet, but my wife would ask me for a divorce the day after the show).
It was almost like that show gave me strength when I needed it, when times
previous to that show the music of SDRE helped me through other tough times.
Don't get me wrong, I like listening to SDRE when I am in a great mood. But
to me, the true power of any band is that when I remember my life's event
many years later the music that carried me through stays as relevant as it
did then. When I listen to HIFTBSO now, it brings back not-very-distant
memories of last Fall. I don't know how I'll feel about HIFTBSO in 5 or 10
years, but for now it is a very potent album that really helped me get
through some tough times. To me, music that invites me in and allows me to
use it to heal my own soul, to soak up and take on a life of it's own, THAT
is true music. SDRE and Mineral are two bands that do that. There are others,
but those two in particular. Ok, sorry this was so long, take care! Rites
