and I figured, what would be the harm in posting it...

SDRE just played a show last night (a long time ago, April I think?) at
UW...this is the pre-show review:
> >
> >What happened to the days when a band had to be kaput for
> at least a
> >decade before the resurrection plans kicked in? Seattle
> quartet Sunny
> >Day Real Estate released its emotionally gripping debut,
> Diary, back in
> >1994 and swiftly followed it up with an eponymous album of
> more guitar
> >rock, which was meant to serve as the band's farewell. But
> now, less
> >than three years after the band's corpse was put in the
> ground, SDRE
> >comes roaring back with How It Feels to Be Something On
> (Sub Pop), an
> >offering of more powerhouse guitars, abruptly angled
> chords and perhaps
> >their most unique and compelling instrument, lead singer
> Jeremy Enigk's
> >howl. Since their last meeting in the studio, Enigk has
> dabbled with a
> >solo career centered on orchestral pop, while bassist Nate
> Mendel and
> >drummer William Goldsmith have joined the post-punk ranks
> of the Foo
> >Fighters (Goldsmith returned for this reunion; Mendel
> didn't). These
> >interesting career twists should inform and expand the new
> music, but
> >How It Feels is, for the most part, just a cogent reminder
> of the
> >band's former strength. David Peisner, Sidewalk

To laugh often and much
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
