Just curious, to those saying that SDRE's music is too "intelligent" for the
masses, what will you say if SDRE's next album is a big hit? That it's just a
trend and most of the new fans don't "get it" the way you do?
And don't think it couldn't happen, because it came close to happening with
Diary. Diary sold a lot of copies, they played on MTV (including a segment
that featured the words "Hi, this is Will and Nate from Sunny Day Real Estate
and you're watching Alternative Nation with Kennedy!"), they posed for a
Nordstrom's ad and they ended up on a Batman soundtrack. No, they never quite
made it over the hump that would've made them superstars, but for a moment
there they got very close. At least closer than most performers, mindless or
not, ever get.
My other question: Why does Thom Yorke get mentioned on this list so much?
As far as I know, he has nothing to do with SDRE. I guess I just find it a
little annoying since I hold the opinion that he is a whiny talentless little
BBC bitch-boy who should shut the hell up. But then again what do I know? I
like to avoid thinking.

Mike
