Greetings from the Friendly List Moderator (tm),

I'm going to agree with Hosehead who previously said this topic was
discussed ad infinitum. Given the posts I'm getting I'd have to agree
that it's degenerating into a conversation of what makes a band popular
and examples-counterexamples of them.

To sum up what was agreed upon last summer - everyone's got an opinion,
and it would appear, a post to go with it. The SDRE-content of these
discussions are minimal and from previous experience nothing can come out
of it except a flamewar, so this conversation is finito. Rather than wait
until tere's 50 messages in each person's mailbox and the inevitable
bitching about it being a stupid topic and generating too much mail (which
I've already got a few posts about), I'll stop it now.

If the sdre archive still exists, it should be there. I'm not sure if it
still does though. That's a hell of a lot of work to maintain it and it
wouldn't surprise me if it isn't still around...whicih dovetails rather
nicely into my next topic...

I think, at one point, there was a FAQ either being planned, or done, for
this list. I like that idea. Sent out monthly or so. The only question
now is what's on it. Here are some of my ideas...

-unsubscribe instructions
-list of links to sdre web pages
-list of places to d/l MP3's - places that will last for a while,
hopefully. I don't know where these places are (despite all the messages
to the list recently) or how stable/long-term they will be up, so if
anyone who is running them out there and will be running it for a while
could email me, that'd be great.
-information on the SDRE IRC chat channel - I know less about this than
the MP3's, but I remember someone previously knew quite a bit/started it,
so if they could email me as well...
- there was also at one point a SDRE page that had trader info - all I
remember is I think it was based in New Jersey - if it's still up I'd put
it in the faq as a place for people to go for trading tapes, etc.

I'm probably missing some obvious things so if you want to email me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] if you have anythign to add/web links/audio links,
that'd be great.

Charlie Wagner, if I remember correctly you have done a few polls - if you
wanted to put them up on a web page that'd be cool too. If you have time
of course!

It'll be a while before anything gets written - I've got a busy final year
ahead of me. So if anyone knows anything about that old FAQ, if it was
ever made, etc, that may help out a lot.

Funniest posts I've rejected this week: "hey list how is everyone doing?"
and "hi everybody, I'm new, just wondering how old people are?"

Big Mamma Thornton "Hound Dog" (1953)
