pales eh?
this email is type with the kindest intentions - but being a frank Enigk
supporter, i can't let this one go unresponded. i must first note that i
haven't read many of the replies ... so forgive me if i'm preaching older
news (but good news =).

I find the solo album VERY musical. Although at first i was slightly taken
by the 'edge' the album seemed to have ... i payed the dues and listen to
the recording for hours and hours (not all at once of course .. cumon i'm
just a kid). The more i absorbed the music the more and more i felt like i
understood and could appreciate it. This may have to due with my STRONG
APPRECIATION for classical music - i dunno.

I do understand your thoughts though, those fed by the
pop-culture-fast-food-industry [if you will] wouldn't give the record a
second chance. But i doubt the point of the record was to be in the 'Top
10'. The engineering alone sets it out of the pop race. It reminds me of a
Beatles album ... rough. I hear the album as almost beautiful chaos. Sure
sometimes i think to myself, why not take the time to do another vocal take
[and consider vocal performance] ... but i think i wouldn't appreciate it as
much if it didn't have the dissidence (sp?) that it does ... it makes me
shiver - and sometimes cry. I give applause to Mr. Enigk for having the
guts, talent and devotion to make the FAR UNAPPRECIATED record.

I'm glad you have started listening to SDRE, they were a great band ... and
still are. Hopefully they will make you FEEL, as i know they have countless
other people. But they're not the same SDRE as the first 2 albums - but
that's appreciable.

Take care and God Bless.
