The following is another review of the promo of the new album written by a
friend of mine who heard it last week --
"I have acquired a copy of the new SDRE album as a promo copy. A friend of
mine that works at the radio station also works at Time Bomb records, so
he had a copy. Umm...what the hell is going on here? Never has SDRE
sounded better. However, this is a curse. The band is now a professional
sounding stadium act. There is nothing to hum along to here, and though
the songs sound great , they aren't that well structured in the classic
SDRE sense. Size is definately favored over quality. This is not to say
that the bombast isn't appealing, but if i wanted to hear U2 or latter day
Smashing Pumpkins , I would get albums byt those artists. I've only
listened to the first 6 songs, but I can guess that things will proceed as
such. Maybe I need a couple of more listens, or maybe I need the old Sdre
back. Right now I'm leaning towards the latter."
