It's woefully obvious that the band's songwriting talents have progressed from even "How It Feels" by triumphant leaps and bounds. "One" is definitely an amazingly *written* song; it doesn't sound like it took three minutes to write, and it blew my mind completely with its great hook and Jeremy's first couple of lines, "high" vocal & everything. Whatever the reason, the songs I've heard so far are GREAT (and I haven't heard many because unlike some people on this list I don't have a multitude of punkrock industry connections, and yes, I'm jealous). Well-written, charismatic melodies with soaring vocals and poignant lyrics. (Can't wait until we can actually READ the lyrics.) This will be an interesting month of morally challenging discussions about Napster, Ebay (the first copies are already going for over $50), lyric content, cover art, argument about which of the songs is best, and what dinner we think Jeremy ate prior to singing the verses to such-and-such. Looking forward to it.
