Not to make any blasphemous comparisons between the Smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate, but Billy Corgan once said that SP tried to accomplish something new on every album. Many Pumpkins fans did not like Adore nearly as much as the previous four, but the Pumpkins were doing what they wanted to do. Being original means not following everyone else, and that includes what you've already done. SDRE is not content to keep playing their "emo," and they continue to evolve according to how they want to sound. All three of their albums have vastly different attitudes. Like one guy said, the Pink Album is my fave also, but I love Rising Tide. I can't think of one song on the album that I can't stand.
