Hello all.
This is my first time posting, so go easy on me...
I've been listening to the new album for about two days now. It's very very
good. I find it very odd that some folks who, say, really dug a song like
"Pheurton Skeurto" with its eery piano, etc. suddenly get uptight when SDRE
includes piano on one of the new songs. People who trash this CD seem to be
listening to a different album than the one I downloaded! Songs like "One"
and "Killed by and Angel" have all the intensity and immediacy of "Seven" or
"The Blankets were the Stairs."
I'm a big fan of "Diary" but I also can appreciate where the band is headed,
and after listening to the new songs, I'm more convinced than ever that SDRE
is one of the most compelling (and vital) rock groups out there today.
They've kept themselves relevant *and* revolutionary.
The bridges in songs like "Disappear" and "Fool in the Photograph" send
chills up my spine, even after repeated listenings. Oh, and it should go
without saying that if you download the songs, be sure to pick up the CD
when it comes out. As indie artists on an indie label, they deserve out
dollar vote on this release -- okay, that's enough preaching from me.
Anyways, I've got July 2nd circled on my calendar (St. Andrew's Hall -
Detroit) - maybe I'll see some of you there?
Yours,
Joe K.
