> together, but the fact that only one of them bothered to thank the crowd,
> and only three of them introduced themselves, it was like they forgot that
dan and jeremy both thanked the crowd. the people that were introduced
were because they are not members of the band and so deserved an
introduction, while it was assumed the audience would know the band
members' names..
all in all, i thought the concert was good. not as good as the last
detroit show. i was hoping for more songs from diary, but in circles as
the last song was perfect.. i was internally wishing they'd play it at
that moment, so it was completely satisfying. i was surprised when
jeremy threw down his guitar, but in a good way, it was interesting to
see that sort of anger come out of him, it isn't usually shown.
as for the rest of the set- i haven't really been appreciating the
rising tide.. there are a couple songs on it that annoy me and a couple
others that just don't sound as original and complex as their earlier
work. i was pretty disappointed -since i had convinced myself that they
could never come out with anything bad! but at the concert, i found
myself really enjoying most of the new songs- when they opened with
'fool..' it was so intense! and in 'killed by an angel' jeremy came the
closest to his old-style screaming that i've heard. snibe was so good,
too.. and i think the most beautiful part of the concert was 'tearing..'
jeremy's humming in the chorus is just amazing.
i too wish dan would sing more.. at least he still sings live to the old
songs he was on.. william was awesome as always. i was so glad they
played guitar and video games... the drums in that song are so good.
anyway, enough of my rambling. the show was good, i wish they'd played
longer of course, i was surprised at the amount of people lined up by
7:30, glad i got a tshirt and patch before they ran out of stuff.
by the way, does anyone know where the crazy design of the antler-people
falling off a tree came from? is it in the new album liner notes? i
only have the promo copy so far.
thanks
