Cool post, and I pretty much agreed with you except for two things --

"It seems to me
that if SDRE was going to sell out and become say modern day U2, they would
join a MAJOR LABEL"

I think if a major label had offered the right deal, they would have
absolutely loved to have signed with one. I just don't think the interest was
there.

"As probably the best touring band in America
right now"

This is just a matter of taste, and don't let my dumb comments detract
anyone from having a great time when going to see them, but I think SDRE is
an outright bad touring band. A great touring band plays shows that last more
than an hour. A great touring band plays an indepth collection from their
entire career. And if there's a song that they know a lot of the audience is
dying to hear (like seven), they swallow their pride and play it, even if
they are bored with it. The quality of their live song playing is fantastic
and that along with the intensity of the crowds can make for great shows, I
just think the shows could be a lot better if they took some cues from bands
like The Afghan Whigs who, among other things, regularly play sets that are
over 2 hours and have a wide variety of songs.
