hey listers,
last night i was lucky enough to
see the best show i've ever seen in my life...
here's how it all went down: first...i live
in riverside county so me and my homies
had to leave at about 3:30 to beat traffic on the
way up there. We got to the palace
at about 5:15...and when we arrived there were only
about 10 maybe 15 people in
line...so we cruised down the "walk of fame"
stopping only at James Dean's star
cuz he's a pretty emo guy. when we came back there
were about 30 or 40 people...
and Dan and Jeremy walked by...Dan was just smiling
and Jeremy was kinda
laid back signing a few autographs...after they
left, me and my friends were lucky
enough to sit in this back alley and catch some of
sunny day's sound check behind
these black doors...i think the most memorable
experience from the show was
hearing "every shining time you arrive" in a back
alley...and my friend mikey e.
said the most profound thing...he was like
"guys...what you're listening to right now
is not a record..." and we just sat there realizing
how perfect sdre plays their stuff...
anyways, now on to the show details: we got inside
about 7:15...i proceeded to go
directly to the merch tables where i bought a sunny
day shirt (the light blue one),
and a no knife shirt...then i went inside and
parked myself in the fourth row in the
middle...no knife came on exactly at 8:00 (i
was surprised because i've never been
to a show that started on time)...they
absolutely rocked! although i was thoroughly
pissed that the sound men failed to turn up their
singers mics enough...so i just heard
voices, but really couldn't distinguish
lyrics...but i was impressed by the intricate riffs
and just tightness of the band...they went off
stage, and after a fat guy who dug
playing old school rock riffs checked all of sdre's
guitars and amps sdre came on stage
to an uproar of applause...they rocked
through the entire set, which i imagine is
probably
the same set they've been playing for the most part
on the entire tour:
fool in the photograph (although my friends don't
agree, i think is the best opener)
pillars
one (i heard from someone that they were filming
the video for it so i threw my
hands up
attempting to be seen)
the ocean
killed by an angel
guitar and video games
snibe (probably one of the best they
played)
every shining time you arrive
disappear
tearing in my heart (i've been working on tabbing
it, seeing jeremy and dan do it helps)
j'nuh
encore (the entire crowd applauded for several
minutes w/stomping in between)
8
the rising tide (an amazing spectacle, that's all i
got to say)
in circles ( hearing every one scream the words at
the top of their lungs was awesome,
i'm still hoarse...cough, cough...hack, hack,,,,)
it was all i dreamed it would be and more...they
are by far my favorite band in every way...
amazingly only one person yelled for
"seven"...after people started yelling for "rodeo jones"
and "song about an angel" jeremy was like "my
goodness, sorry this is not request hour"
the highlight of the show was Dan saying "the radio
doesn't get us, the telvision doesn't
get us...but f*ck them, we got you guys...."
everyone just busted up...
later,
skinnyness
ps. if anyone who went to the show knows no knife's
stuff...what was the 3rd song
they played and what album is it off..
