I'd have to (at least partially) agree w/jngagnon about the Diary/Rising
Tide album situation. Like him, the first SDRE album i bought was LP2, and,
being completely impressed w/it, i went and purchased Diary. I thought Diary
was decent, but for some reason it never grew on me (and still hasn't). I
think it is an AMAZING debut album for a band, and it is totally original,
but in comparison to the other albums, it's probably my least favorite. I
know this means ridicule by most people on the list, but it's my personal
preference. After buying HIFTBSO, i think it is fantastic.
True, Will's drumming isn't as over the top as it was pre break-up, but
it DOES fit the newer songs' style. And now, w/Rising Tide, i am still impres
sed. The music is definately NOT in the same vein as Diary or LP2, but who
are we to not want the band to grow and mature musically?
Bands that stay the same are BORING.
