If we drew a list of all the bands n records we like 2gether we'd see we have many in common. there's something that moves us in sdre's music that we can find in some other bands(though i'm not sure they r many to reach such a high level of purity...) What d'y'all think about this? ryu I agree with this.  While there are many, many bands that I like, and there are even quite a few songs that give me the shivers, there are very few bands that can do it to me regularly.  The only other bands to have this amazing well....greatness to the that I can  think of would be Mineral and Hum.   I think the characteristic that they all have is their ability to create emotions with their music,  not necisarily the vocals.  In each Mineral or Sunny Day song you can feel that each and every note has some kind of meaning to the whole,  there aren't any filler sounds.  And with Hum,  damn they just are amazing,  with them it feels like each and every seacond of every song took them weeks to make (and with Downward it did.)   So I think what thease "Emo"  bands have is an appriceation for the power music,  not relying on the power of singing.
