Hi all I met some of the SD.rb crew at RailsConf last year, and visited for a week not long after that (and experienced some fantastic hospitality courtesy of Patrick & Lisa and others) - and enjoyed myself enough that I'm coming back next year, for all of May. The goal is location independence, so I'll be doing my usual freelancing thing while I'm there - being a tourist isn't on the agenda.
Over that month, I'll need a place to stay, and somewhere to work from. They could be the same place, they might not (I kept an eye on the co-working discussions here recently). I'm not expecting someone to put me up in their place for a month, but I'm looking either for an apartment or house I can take over for my stay. So, the kind of place I had in mind: - Apartment or house, I'm not fussed - If someone has plenty of space for a wandering Australian (or knows someone who does), that could be an option - Location should have lots in walking distance - I don't drive. Hillcrest is high on the recommended locations list at the moment. I know Craigslist exists, and that'll be my next stop, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any places through their connections. And I realise I could be planning too far in advance for anyone to commit to anything, but I figure no harm starting the discussion now.
