Fellow Rubyists, I've begun development for an exciting new company!
We are currently looking for a person who has experience with both System Administration and Ruby development. This will be ongoing and could eventually turn into a full-time position. Compensation is hourly for now and the rate is negotiable. The timeframe is not set in stone, but I will be beginning this part of development as soon as April 1st. I'm estimating this piece to be roughly 50 - 75 hours of work. Details below: Required Skills ------------------------------------------ - 5+ years (Debian/Ubuntu flavor) Linux system administration experience - 3+ years (non-Rails and Rails) Ruby development experience (you must be in the habit of writing tests or specs for all your code) - An aptitude/knack for distributed computing - Proven experience with web server (Apache 2) optimization - Efficient and accurate written and verbal communication Desired Skills/Talents ------------------------------------------ - Self-starter and motivated - Strong opinions and experience with various relational database systems (SQLite a big plus) - Message queue experience (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or others) - Distributed caching setup and implementation experience (memcached) If you or anyone you know has the above credentials and the time/ energy to devote, please contact me directly.
