Hello Everyone, I am new to this group and just wanted to say hello. I met some of you at the Hive Haus event a few days ago, which was great. Thanks Mike for putting that on.
Anyway, I am starting a few new projects revolving around the iPhone and Rails, and I came across a company called Appcelerator.com, which has an incredibly cool tool that allows you to code in HTML/CSS/ Javascript, and then compiles that into a native Objective-C iPhone app. You can access all the native APIs, like location, camera, photos, etc, and the controls you get are all native, not CSS imitations. The core code is also open source on GitHub. And finally, it deploys the same code on iPhone and Android with a single click. My question to the group is has anyone else heard of this or used it in an app yet? I am surprised that I havent heard more about it. I have heard a lot about PhoneGap, but this is light-years beyond PhoneGap. Appcelerator also has a very cool Javascript message-based dev tool called Entourage that I want to learn more about. I hope to meet more of you at the next event, I am glad there is such a vibrant, active Rails community right in my own back yard. - John John Lynch CTO www.missionmetrix.com [email protected] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ SD Ruby mailing list [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/sdruby -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
