One more thing to add to the munin setup: I wasn't getting any updates to the graphs after following the tutorial below. There was a step missing, which is detailed at the end of this tutorial:
http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/munin.htm The key line is this one: #/usr/share/munin/munin-update --force-root The end of this tutorial also explains how munin sets up a cron job to run itself, which wasn't apparent from the munin site or the other tutorial.
