I proposed a little while back that we have a meeting where we all share quick
tips. Not sure how it will go, but seems like it might be fun to try.

It could just be part of the meeting, or if we have enough content, it could be
the whole meeting.

My initial idea was that I would have anyone who's interested send me a tidbit
or even better a slide or graphic or two that shows the idea, and I would
assemble them into a presentation with a pleasing order and symmetry. Then as
your thing came up, you could stand up and talk about it, general discussion
would ensue, jokes would be made and a jolly old time would be had by all. And
then we move on to the next thing.

In particular, this would avoid all the futzing about when we switch
presenters, and would mean even the shortest and simplest of ideas was worth
throwing up on a slide that nicely describes it.

When I proposed the idea, it was suggested that some other folks might like to
just do their own full talk with their own laptops and the attendant futzing.
Folks like their futzing, I guess. :-)

So, anyway. If you have something, send it on to me, and however much we have,
I will assemble into a thing that will hopefully amuse and educate us all for
at least part of the evening. Feel free to send several somethings. Let me give
you an idea of the kind of thing: it would be something that folks may not
know, that is neat, useful and easy to explain.

For example:

        ['This', 'is', 'a', 'quick', 'way', 'to', 'join', 'strings'] * ' ' ==
'This is a quick way to join strings'
        true

Throw just that onto a slide, let everyone stare at it for ten seconds, then
say "You can multiply an array of strings by a string, and the array will be
conjoined by the string. Note that you can multiply by the empty string to
concatenate" and sit down. General cheering and mutters of "wow, thanks, that's
cool" will ensue, and you will feel like a hero.

Another one might be:
        Slide 1:
A custom form renderer is surprisingly easy.
        Slide 2:
<Custom form renderer skeleton (maybe ten lines)>

General discussion of how this simplifies all your forms, and gives you a
single articulation point for all your forms. Congratulations, offers of
employment and buyings of drinks, etc ensues.

During the meeting, I'll stand up the front and push "Next". :-)

Let's try it. Send me cool stuff I wish I knew!
