Yes. :-)

I think if you look at popular, idiomatic Ruby libraries, they all use a 
reasonable share of functional constructs.

After the May meeting, I was discussing this very idea with a couple of chaps. 
We were talking about computer science more generally, and functional 
programming in particular, and how it would be worth doing some "Computer 
Science for the layman" stuff for the fair number of developers in the group 
who never took Computer Science. Much of it would be some basics of functional 
programming for people whose first language was Java, poor souls.

I think there might actually be a book in the idea of Useful Computer Science 
for Ruby Programmers Who Never Took Comp Sci In College. Only you'd need a 
better title.
