Hi all,

I've been doing quite a bit of contracting with a company called Taaz for
the past few years. There's another guy on here who has done some work with
them as well (but I'll let him name himself if he wants).

Anyway, they're looking for a Scrum Master. The email I have says "Or RoR
Developer". From what I know, they're looking to start RoR work to augment
and add to their existing Flex (with C++ back end) stuff. And they'll either
take someone who's a pure scrum master or a developer that doesn't mind
leading projects while developing.

As far as mid-stage startups go, this one is really good. I think they have
a very real chance of a highly profitable exit within the next two years
(but that's pure speculation on my part). They have been by far my favorite
client over the past couple years.

Anyway, I copy/pasted the relevant parts of the job description below. I'd
appreciate if you mentioned my name if you apply for the gig.

---------
TAAZ.com (Photometria Inc.) is an exciting technology startup focused on
beauty and makeup – with an
Internet twist. We power virtual makeovers on the web sites of top
cosmetics, media, and retailer brands
as well as on our own destination site, Taaz.com.

This position is responsible for running our internal Scrum process as well
as working within that team.
Responsibilities include working with customers, managing external
dependencies for the team, tracking
progress on user stories, running daily stand-up meetings, and all other
tasks normally associated with
the Scrum Master role. Because of the size of the team and the small number
of external dependencies,
some percentage of time will remain for assisting with development work as
well, but that is not the
primary focus of the role.

Requirements and Skills
• Experience as a Scrum Master through multiple sprints. Candidates with
strong experience using
another agile process will also be considered.
• 3+ years of software development experience
• Familiarity with consumer-oriented web site development
• Excellent communication skills
• A passion for working in small, fast-paced teams
• A commitment to high-quality code
• Startup work experience a plus
• Spanish fluency a plus
• An eye for good design a plus
• Experience with Flex or Ruby a plus

Salary is commensurate with market rates for mid-stage startup companies.
Compensation includes
stock options. Benefits include on-site workout facility with locker rooms
and showers, garaged parking,
espresso and snacks, and catered lunches every Friday. To apply, please send
your resume to
[email protected].

Have a good one,
