Oh man! I really wish I could come to this. It was a really fun time last
year. You'll be missing Brian's grilled nectarines (or was it peaches?) with
balsamic reduction too, so someone get on that :D

Miss you all, have fun!

Anybody coming to the SD Ruby BBQ on Saturday? Sound off so I know how much
ice to get for cooling beer and make a guess as to what you might bring.

Do you want some direction about what to bring? Run irb, paste the following
code, hit Enter and there you are:

foods = %w(chicken bratwurst hamburgers hot_dogs)
foods << %w(buns salad vegetable_tray desert)
foods << %w(beer wine beer sparkling_cider beer)
foods[rand(foods.size)]

Last year we had a lot of extra beer that we sent home with people, so large
quantities are not necessary. Some variety in darks, hefeweizens, etc, would
be nice, especially since Martin Emde, who brought some great beers last
year, moved to San Francisco. If, on average, each person brought enough
food to feed himself/herself, and enough to drink, plus a bit more, we'll be
fine.

See you here!

Scott

WHAT
It's a potluck cookout! Please bring some food and/or drink to share.

To keep things coordinated, just email the group with a list of whatever
you're planning to bring and who's coming. That way, we hope to wind up with
the right number of hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, salads, vegetable trays,
deserts, beers, bottles of wine, sparkling cider, etc.

The venue is the home of Scott Olmsted and his wife, Barbara. They will
provide the barbecue, coolers with ice, disposable plates and utensils,
napkins, mustard, ketchup, and relish.

Not far from the coast, it can be cool in the evening in Encinitas, even in
August (and it's been quite cool this year), so having a sweater or jacket
is perhaps not a bad idea.

WHEN
August 21, 2010, from 5 - 9pm

WHERE
1153 Via Montecito
Encinitas, CA 92024
http://bit.ly/arnaWC

DIRECTIONS
Exit 5 at Encinitas Blvd. Go east about 1.3 miles. Take a left on Via
Cantebria, just after passing the light at Balour Dr. Take the second right
at Via Montecito. The house number is 1153 (sixth house on the right).

PARKING
There's plenty of street parking. Call 760.942.1953 or 760.944.3863 if you
get lost.
