Job ad goes something like this...

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, and as part of a team of nine developers, you will be responsible for software development on AMCO's five web applications. You will have ownership from inception to delivery of business requirements, maintenance fixes, and other system enhancements.

We operate using our own informal, iterative agile process, and expect you to have a good grasp of the agile manifesto, the peer review process, and iterative development. You will work well within a team, have great communication skills, and have a mature, professional approach to your work.

Core Requirements (don't bother applying without them):

An active github account
You've read the 37signals book - "Getting Real"
Professional experience writing real, working web applications
Solid knowledge of PHP
Solid knowledge of SQL
Some knowledge of Ruby on Rails
JavaScript experience

Desired Requirements:

Solid understanding of web technologies (CGI, HTTP, SSL, LAMP, REST, HTML, CSS, etc.) Solid understanding of programming principles (DRY, PIE, MVC, OOP, TDD, etc.)
Solid knowledge of MySQL
Recent contributions to Open Source projects
Experience with jQuery

Our core product is an education system in the form of printed text books, and we're working hard now to leverage that content by delivering it and a number of supporting services digitally, while continuing to support the production, manufacture, and shipping of our core products. We have been very successful for over ten years, and have a solid track record with over 500 employees internationally.

AMCO is a great place to work, with a friendly atmosphere, lots of opportunity to learn and grow, and a great culture in the IT team of cooperation, respect and excellence. With our web-based products ranging from our own ERP system, to an online flash/flex game for kids, there's a great variety to keep us busy interested. We're looking for someone that is interested in pushing themselves out of their comfort zone.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, then I want to hear from you. I'm wanting to fill this position within the next four weeks, so preference will be given to applicants who are able to begin within that period.

Cheers,
Jason King
