Admittedly, this is a mostly LAMP and JS position, though we have a couple of Rails apps that will need an extensive rewrite in Rails 3 in the near future. I'm posting it here, because I have a lot of respect for the group and suspect I'm not the only SDRuby member who's interested in languages and technologies other than Ruby and Rails. There's potential for more Ruby/Rails projects, which would only increase with another Ruby engineer on board, but most of your time will be spent coding in PHP and JavaScript.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Advanced Reservation Systems, Inc (ARES) is looking for an experienced software engineer to join our small team.

In this position you will have the opportunity to make major contributions to the next generation of our e-commerce platform. You will collaborate with members of the technology, product development, and marketing departments to define project requirements and build state-of-the-art software to take ARES to the next level. You must be a quick learner, have good communication skills, and be able to maintain large software projects through their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, and post-release maintenance and support. Experience with specific tools, frameworks, and libraries, while appreciated, is much less important than a solid understanding of core web technologies, familiarity with modern design techniques and development practices, and platform-agnostic problem solving skills.

     Desired Skills and Experience

   * Expert PHP5 programming knowledge and skill
   * Expert applied knowledge of modern web technologies, including
     HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
   * Extensive experience with at least one major JS framework (jQuery,
     YUI, Ext, Prototype, MooTools, Dojo, MochiKit)
   * Hands-on experience with testing/quality assurance strategies and
     methodologies
   * Solid MySQL skills, including query optimization, views, triggers,
     and stored procedures
   * Strong grasp of the DOM and its browser-specific implementations
   * Working knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, and Apache
   * Familiarity with at least one version control system (CVS, SVN,
     Git, Mercurial)
   * Demonstrable experience with at least one other programming
     language (Ruby, Python, Java, C, C++, C#, Perl)

     Bonus

   * Zend Framework
   * Selenium, especially used in conjunction with PHPUnit
   * Memcached, Redis
   * EC2, AWS, S3, Rackspace Cloud
   * Node.js
   * Mobile app development (Objective-C + Cocoa, Android, and/or
     HTML5/CSS3/JS)
   * Agile development practices/Scrum
   * Involvement in an open source project and/or having an active
     Github and/or StackOverflow account
